Exterior Overview
The Land Cruiser has a devout following. After seven decades of production, that isn’t surprising, and the model has a reputation for capability, reliability, and durability that is hard to match. The 100 Series is a favorite of ours, and this Cygnus is the trim that showcases the finest interior options available at the time. This Black (202) V8 model is fresh off a recent service and
offered with
only 133k verified and documented miles on the clock. Set off by ICON alloys, OEM
rainguards,
an optional OEM rear spoiler, and LED
tail lights,
this rig looks as sharp as they come. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good shape overall. Perfect for weekends at the beach, ferrying the little ones to school, or heading out to a local Cars & Coffee, this safe and sizable Japanese Classic is hard to beat!
Interior Overview
The cabin is spacious, nicely equipped, and utilizes premium materials. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard. An electric tilt steering column allows pilots of all sizes to get comfortable behind the wheel, and both front seats are electrically adjustable and heated. The digital touchscreen automatic climate is easy to use, and the OEM audio works like a charm, supplying the cabin with tunes. If you prefer more natural ventilation, a large moonroof tilts and retracts, the optional electric rear quarter glass can butterfly out, and the power side windows roll down automatically. Power folding mirrors and electric locks function as they should, making daily use more enjoyable. The leather seats are in fine shape aside from some age-related cracking. The door cards have also withstood the past twenty-five years without sustaining major carpet damage. While the carpet shows some light stains, the headliner is in good nick. That’s not to say the cabin is perfect, as the telescope function of the steering column no longer works, the rear heat lines have been capped, and the center console cool box no longer functions. On the positive side, the original owner’s manuals are included with the sale of the vehicle as well as a set of nifty Imperial floor mats, and overall, the interior was clearly cared for in a prior life.
Mechanical Overview
This beefy body on frame rig is determined and tough. Constructed to withstand the harsh environments and terrain, its perfectly matched to the 2UZ-FE powerplant. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.7L chugs to life immediately courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new fuel filter, spark plugs, and engine air filter work to maximize power output, and we replaced the radiator and flushed the coolant so that the V8’s thermal load wouldn’t be an issue. To ensure the oil level stays full, one of our trained technicians replaced the valve cover gaskets! The 2UZ is linked to a stout automatic gearbox. Underpinned by a Full-Time 4WD system, a center locking differential and low range can be engaged when you plan to travel off the beaten path. It gets up to highway speeds with ease and is a comfortable high-speed cruiser. New front brake pads and rotors allow this heavyweight to be reeled in from interstate speeds, and ABS is standard. The power steering system was completely refurbished. We rebuilt the steering rack, flushed the fluid, and added new rack boots. New front and rear sway bar links, and rear upper and lower control arms were installed before we mounted and balanced four brand new 35″ Yokohama tires. Even better, we installed new inner and outer tie rods so we could dial in the perfect alignment. The AHC suspension rides like a dream, and the pilot can raise and lower the vehicle as they choose. Turn key and ready to rock, this trusty and determined truck is a safe bet!
