Description

Stock #6976 Legendary on harsh terrain, but just as fun to drive on tarmac, these capable vans are unique, affordable, and reliable. At a fraction of the cost of a built out overlander, why not try out van life in this Japanese Classic! Exterior Overview For those passionate about the outdoors, this Mitsubishi Delica is a killer proposition. You save tons of coin over outfitting a truck or sprinter van, you get radical, retro styling, and you benefit from an indestructable turbodiesel 4WD layout to take you almost anywhere! This 2000 Delica Chamonix is an alpine-inspired hauler with loads of personality, tons of recent service work performed, and is being offered with only 127k verified and documented miles on the clock. It looks the part too, with factory optional color-matched headlights, dual fog lamps, front side and rear brush guards, and a neat OEM graphics package to tie everything together. OEM rainguards and 15″ Delta wheels complete the aesthetic, and save for some dings, chips, and loss of gloss, the Sophia White (W08) paintwork is really in above average shape for its age. Legendary on harsh terrain, but just as fun to drive on tarmac, these capable vans are unique, affordable, and reliable. At a fraction of the cost of a built out overlander, why not try out van life in this Japanese Classic! Interior Overview The Chamonix Mont Blanc trim was far more than just an exterior package. The interior gained bespoke ivory leather, fleur-de-lis embroidery, and thicker insulation in the roof to help regulate cabin temperatures at night. Although it’s 25 years old, the cowhides are in excellent shape and, despite a few pinholes on the dash, this van appears to be well cared for in a prior life. Dual front SRS airbags were implemented to keep your passengers safe, and the driver can settle in behind a tilt adjustable steering column. Utilizing a versatile eight-seat layout, function takes top priority. To maximize cargo space, the rear bench can stow against the D-pillars, and for optimal road trip versatility, the middle bench can swivel a full 180 degrees to face the rear. Once at the campsite, all rows can be folded flat to deploy a makeshift sleeping surface so you can catch some Z’s. Dual zone climate control is on hand so you can funnel both cold A/C and hot heat rearward as needed. There’s also a central field monitor that acts as a compass and inclinometer to assist while exploring parts unknown. To supply the tunes, upgraded Pioneer touchscreen audio sits adjacent to the HVAC, and boasts Bluetooth functionality. The dash and surrounding blackwood style trim have also resisted any serious wear and tear over the years apart from some cracking on the driver’s armrest. Both power windows work as advertised up front, as do the power mirrors, and power locks which feature factory keyless entry. The carpet is in good shape and the headliner is free of any unwanted rips or stains on the vinyl. It’s what’s on the inside that counts, and this Chamonix delivers tenfold. We’ve even retained the original owner’s manual to go along with your new vehicle purchase. Mechanical Overview Enthusiasts lust for the 4M40 under the bonnet, and for good reason. This peppy turbodiesel is world renowned, bulletproof, and fresh off a lot of good service here in the states. A new starter was installed, and two new 12v batteries help maximize cold cranking amps. It idles with confidence and a new engine air filter and fuel filter were installed as a bit of a tune-up. Handling some preventative maintenance, a larger aluminum radiator was installed, and fresh coolant was flushed in to regulate internal temps on the 2.8L. We installed a new valve cover gasket, and topped things off with a fresh oil and filter service. Some would consider this turbodiesel peppy, and a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox sends power to a selective transfercase. We performed a transmission fluid service, and even resealed the transmission pan while we were in there. Even a center locker or low gearing can be utilized if a beach trip is in order. The factory suspension delivers a comfortable ride, and we’ve installed new rear lower control arms to keep things compliant underneath. The power steering is direct and easy to maneuver, and new front brake pads and rotors bolster the ABS system. After mounting up four new Falken tires on the Australian-made alloys, this Delica went up on our alignment rack to get dialed in. This raucous runabout has a lot going for it, and we think the next owner is bound to agree! *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first. CARB certifications will have to be performed within the state. Depending on the vehicle and any existing modifications will affect the pricing. Typically CARB compliance will range between 5-10K. Additional information can be found on the California Air Resources Board website.
